Smallholding Scotland is a voluntary organisation with the purpose to build awareness and represent the interests of Scotland’s smallholding movement.
The chicken is a ubiquitous farm animal and so serves as an instantly recognisable symbol of smallholder farming. The fence motif doubles as a tick to reinforce the positive impact of smallholder farming as an alternative to industrial scale activity.
The look and feel of the graphic form is purposely formal allowing it to represent the complete spectrum of interests of smallholders to all audiences. But as seen above and right the logo has a playful nature.
